What is Derby Scrapstore?

Derby Scrapstore is a Derby-based registered charity on a mission to keep brilliant materials out of landfill and put them back into creative hands. Founded in 1992 (formerly known as Play and Recycling Centre), we’ve spent over three decades collecting surplus and reclaimed resources and redistributing them to individuals, families, schools and community groups across the region.

We believe that one person’s offcut is another’s inspiration. Our scrapstore, craft shop and community paint scheme stock an ever-changing mix of fabrics, wools, beads, ribbons, haberdashery, vinyl, art paper, paints and much more – all at incredibly low prices, because it’s been donated rather than dumped.
Beyond the materials, we’re here to spark creativity and build awareness. We offer opportunities to learn new skills, explore imaginative uses for everyday resources, and understand how simple choices – reducing, reusing, repurposing and recycling – can make a real difference to our environment. Come in, get creative, and fall in love with materials all over again.
